I Only Have Eyes For You

How we met:

I often say that the best decision of my life was to take a year out of Rabbinical School and complete the coursework towards my Masters in Jewish Education. Yes, I learned a lot about teaching and have mastered some very important skills, BUT, the best part, was meeting the camera man for the school's promotional video.

One day in October 2007, I was sitting in my Sociology of Education course when the director of admissions for the program walked in with the camera man to begin filming. Now I had been told that we would be filmed in my class the next morning, and had an outfit all planned out, so I was shocked and a little embarrassed (I wasn't wearing the picked out, camera ready outfit) when they walked in that morning. What I did notice was that the camera man was handsome, and not in school to become a Jewish professional (a rare find in rabbinical/ed school). I didn't think much of it, but I DID make sure to dress for success and to be noticed the following day.

Fast-forward to November 2, 2007. My classmates and friends, Rachel and Russell invited me over for Shabbat dinner. Not knowing who would be there, I was just excited for some good food and hopefully good company, when the handsome camera man (Duncan) walked in. I was pretty excited to get to talk to him. We ended up sitting at opposite ends of the table, but I must have done something right, since he seemed to notice me. We shared a few good laughs that night and I went home thinking he was a nice guy.

The next Monday, my friend Rachel called to tell me that Duncan had asked for my phone number and I told her to give it to him quickly. He called on November 6th and after some crazy schedule matching, we went out on our first date November 15, 2007, our last first date!
